Daniel Gagnon, owner of Herbs, Etc., resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and has been a practicing Medical Herbalist since 1976. Born in French Canada, he relocated to Santa Fe in 1979. There, he furthered his studies in herbalism, pharmacognosy, and related subjects at the Santa Fe College of Natural Medicine and the College of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. In 2004, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine from the North American College of Botanical Medicine in Albuquerque. He has completed his Masters Degree at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine through the University of Wales. His thesis was on the antimicrobial effects of hops (Humulus lupulus) on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
His passion for helping others was born out of his own childhood health challenges. His experience with orthodox medical treatments of eczema, asthma and allergies motivated him to seek gentler, more effective healing modalities, which ultimately lead him on the path to becoming a medical herbalist. Daniel is an accomplished speaker and educator, and regularly teaches seminars and classes on herbal therapeutics, both nationally and internationally.
Health care professionals such as medical doctors, naturopaths, chiropractors and acupuncturists frequently call upon Daniel as an herbal consultant. He is the author of the best-selling book Liquid Herbal Drops in Everyday Use (over 120,000 books sold to date), the updated Practical Guide to Herbal Medicines, and co-author of Breathe Free, a nutritional and herbal self-care book for the respiratory system. He has appeared on national network TV and radio. He was senior professor of Materia Medica at the North American College of Botanical Medicine until closure of the school in 2004. Daniel is the acting director of the Botanical Research and Education Institute in Santa Fe, which publishes educational material on herbal therapeutic.
